Members Of The Woo Gang Charged With Stealing $4.3 Million After Flashing Money On Social Media

BROOKLYN, NYC- Members of the Woo Gang have been charged with allegedly stealing more than $4.3 million in pandemic relief benefits and using stolen identities to file 1,000 fraudulent pandemic unemployment claims, prosecutors say.

Eleven members of the Brooklyn gang were accused of filing more than $20 million in false benefit applications, but only about a fifth of which were approved, reports Marketwatch.

Prosecutors said the gang was caught after they posted numerous photos and videos which showed themselves flashing cash, throwing up gang signs and posing in front of luxury cars that included Mercedes Benzes and Lamborghinis.

Prosecutors say that between March 2020 and October 2021, the members allegedly stole birth dates and social security numbers from 800 people and allegedly used them to submit 1,000 claims to New State Dept. of Labor for unemployment benefits in order to receive pandemic assistance programs.

Several members of the accused gang members appeared in a music video on YouTube, titled ‘Trappin” which included lyrics like “Unemployment got us workin’ a lot.”

Ten of the men, ages 23 and younger, were arrested on Thursday. One of the suspects remains large.

All 11 men have been charged with conspiracy to commit access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.
