A man known as the “Monkey Whisperer” pleaded guilty to having violated the Endangered Species Act and Lacy Act.
Jimmy Hammonds is accused of selling a Capuchin to singer Chris Brown in a wildlife trafficking conspiracy.
Hammonds was also Swae Lee’s dealer. According to Rolling Stone, Lee, part of the rap duo Rae Sremmurd, brought a Capuchin monkey for $20,000.
The 57-year-old illegally sold cotton-top Tamarins, which are on the endangered species list. He’s facing a maximum penalty of eight years in prison.
