Man Used Dog To Attack Elderly Man Outside ATM During Robbery

FLORIDA- An elderly man is recovering from his injuries after he was brutally beaten by a man and attacked by his dog while withdrawing money from an ATM.

Police say the attack was caught on video footage.

The attempted robbery happened on March 2, police said in a news release on Thursday.

Surveillance footage from the ATM shows the unidentified suspect, shirtless, approaching the victim from the back as he’s seen dragging his large dog by the neck.

The suspect struck the 68-year-old in the face and continued to repeatedly punch him as he was on the ground. The suspect then ordered his dog to attack the man, as he punched him 12 times and kicked him.

The victim suffered a broken orbital socket and lacerations to his leg due to the dog attacking him.

Police told PEOPLE the suspect would be charged with attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, the dog being the deadly weapon they say in this case.

The male suspect fled the scene with a female suspect in a car. There have no arrests made.
