FLORIDA- A 19-year-old man is accused of fatally shooting his mother after she told him not to smoke in the house.
Seth Settle allegedly shot and killed his mother on Thursday, after she had told him to stop smoking cigars in his room, according to Polk County Police Department, reported Fox 13 Tampa Bay.
Police were reportedly contacted by Settle’s brother, who had discovered their mother’s body in the home.
Settle’s mother had been shot in the heart, according to the news outlet.
Settle reportedly confessed to authorities that he shot his mother but told police that the gun had accidentally discharged as he was lowering it.
Police say he shot his mother because he was upset at her.
Settle was charged with second-degree murder, five counts of providing false information to law enforcement, tampering with evidence and discharging a firearm in a residential property, according to the news outlet.
