Dave Chapelle’s Attacker Didn’t Commit A Felony; Los Angeles D.A.

LOS ANGELES- The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has decided not to charge the man who lunged at comedian Dave Chappelle and tackled him while he was on stage at The Hollywood Bowl Tuesday.

The D.A.’s office had been investigating the case against 23-year-old Ishiah Lee as a felony charge but passed the case to the L.A.’s City Attorney’s Office to be considered for a “misdemeanor filing”, according to reports.

“After reviewing the evidence, prosecutors determined that while criminal conduct occurred, the evidence as presented did not constitute felony conduct occurred”, a spokesperson for the DA’s office said.

Several hours after the DA’s decision, the LA City Attorney charged Lee with four misdemeanor counts which include two counts of unlawful activity at a sporting or theatrical event.

Lee was initially charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
