MISSOURI- A woman was arrested and charged after police say she stole a dog, killed the animal and then set it on fire.
Brianna Lynn Lingo, 29, is facing felony charges of stealing an animal and animal abuse by torture and mutilation while the animal was alive, according to online Missouri court records, reports USA Today.
Police said the incident took place at Lingo’s mother’s house.
A spokesperson from the Moberly Police Department told USA TODAY that officers arrested Lingo on Tuesday after her mother called 911 for help.
Lingo’s mother told authorities that her daughter killed her dog, a terrier mix, as part of “a ritual sacrifice”, according to a probable cause affidavit, reports USA TODAY.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the dog burning in a pit in a courtyard.
Lingo told police that she strangles the dog, before setting it’s body on fire.
