ILLINOIS- A former daycare employee is accused of shaking a 7-week-old baby because she wouldn’t stop crying, police said.
Taylor Burris, 24, allegedly shook the baby on May 17 and then waited three hours before calling 911. The police report states that Burris also googled “shaken baby syndrome”, reports Metro.
When police arrived at the scene, the infant was found unresponsive and rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and died the following morning, reports Metro.
Burris initially told authorities that the infant became sick because she had been hit with a ball and fell even more ill. Burris then told police that the infant was indeed hit with a ball, but that she had shook the baby because she was frustrated the baby was crying, according to MSN.
An autopsy revealed that infant died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Burris was booked into jail on Tuesday and charged with involuntary manslaughter, causing aggravated battery to a child resulting in death endangering the life and health of a child.
