Alleged Comedy Club Shooter At Craig Robinson Show Is Charged

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -The suspect accused of opening fire at a comedy club where comedian Craig Robinson was scheduled to perform has been charged.

The alleged gunman, identified as Omar James McCombs, 36, faces five counts of assault by pointing a gun, one count of discharging a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, and other charges, reports WSOC-TV.

McCombs is accused of opening fire inside The Comedy Zone club. Employees at the club reportedly said McCombs waved a gun around as he ordered people to leave.

No one was injured, but many people panicked and ran for safety when the shooting happened.

Robinson, best known for his role on the hit show “The Office”, the movie “Hot Tub Machine” was evacuated, along with a few others to a near-by Big Time Rush concert. He was waiting in the green.

The comedian took to Instagram thanking police, “Thank you everyone for your outpouring of support and well wishes,” he wrote Sunday. “Thank you Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for swift action in apprehending the shooter.”

Robinson added “Hopefully he gets the help he needs.” “Thanks be to God no one was hurt. Please stay safe everyone.”
