LOS ANGELES- Rapper Slim Jxmmi, half of the rap duo Rae Sremmurd, was arrested upon arriving at LAX Sunday.
Slim Jxmmi had outstanding warrants for his arrest in Georgia for possession of marijuana with intent to sell, according to TMZ. He’s currently being held with bail.
Georgia officials said a judge approved Slim’s extradition from L.A. to Georgia, where he is facing a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison if he’s found guilty, reports the outlet.
The rapper had flown from Canada to LAX and was reportedly taken into custody by Customs and Border Patrol agents when they discovered his outstanding warrants.
Slim Jxmmi’s lawyer said the charges are a misunderstanding.
His lawyer told TMZ that a judge never arrested the rapper on the warrant but held a hearing for him and the warrant was dismissed.
