RUSSIA- Dennis Rodman has changed his mind and will not be traveling to Russia to help free Brittney Griner.
The former NBA champion says he has no further plans to travel to Moscow in an attempt to seek the release of Brittney Griner, despite saying he was going to, reports ABC News.
Rodman’s backpedaling comes after the US State Department said the retired Chicago Bull’s player mission to free Griner would “not be on behalf of the United States.”
Rodman made headlines Saturday after telling NBC News that he got “permission to go to Russia to help that girl,” referring to Griner.
Griner was sentenced to serve 9 years in prison after being convicted on Aug. 4 of smuggling cannabis oil vapes cartridges into Russia.
