Tupac’s Step-Dad Granted Parole After Serving 30 Years, Suffering From Blood Cancer

Rapper Tupac’s stepfather, a former Black Liberation Army member convicted of killing two NYPD officers and a security guard will be released from prison next month, reports The New York Post.

Mutulu Shakur, 72, is reportedly suffering from advanced blood cancer was granted parole in Oct and is set to be released on Dec. 16.

The U.S. Parole commission determined that Shakur is so severely ill, that he will no longer be capable of breaking any law, according to a letter filed Thursday by Assistant US Attorney Cheryl Morgan, reports The Post.

Shakur has served 30 years in prison.

He was a member of a self-proclaimed revolutionary robbery crew known as “The Family”, which were reportedly comprised members of the Weather Underground and the far-left group the Weather Underground.

He participated in 12 robberies in just 5 years from 76′ to 81′.

Shakur was sentenced to 60 years in prison after a Brinks heist in Nyack that left a guard dead and two police officers.

Shakur will have to be subject to GPS monitoring and travel restrictions.

He’s also been ordered to stay from anyone associated with “The Family” and fellow revolutionary Joanne Chesimard, known as Assata Shakur.

Shakur was married to Tupac’s mother, Afeni Shakur in the 70’s and 80’s.
