The School of the Art Institute of Chicago on Thursday rescinded an honorary degree awarded to Kanye West, legally known as Ye.
The decision was made after West has made repeated antisemitic comments, most recently on two separate podcasts, where he even praised Hitler on one far-right talk show.
He was recently kicked off of Twitter by Elon, his long-time buddy, for posting a photo of a swastika.
School spokesperson Bree Witt released a statement which read:
“The School of the Art Institute of Chicago condemns and repudiates Kanye West’s (legally known as Ye) anti-black, antisemitic, racist and dangerous statements, particularly those directed at Black and Jewish communities. Ye’s actions do not align with SAIC’s mission and values.”
The Art Institute awarded the rapper, and fashion designer in 2015 with a doctorate.
