MIAMI- A man has been arrested after he was caught on video allegedly stabbing a gas station clerk over a can of beer, police said.
Billy Joe Martin, 39, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and battery on a law enforcement officer.
Police say Martin went inside of the gas station on Monday afternoon, took a beer from the fridge and placed it in his pocket.
When the clerk asked Martin what was inside of his pocket, he became upset. He entered the glass-covered area the clerk was in and began punching the clerk before stabbing him with a knife multiple times, surveillance footage shows.
The clerk can be seen attempting to defend himself, while calling 911 on his cellphone.
Martin took two packs of cigarettes before leaving behind the counter.
The clerk called police and locked the gas station doors, trapping Martin inside. When police arrived at the scene, they tasered Martin before arresting him.
The knife he used to stab the clerk was found in his pocket.
