R. Kelly’s 10 Sex Abuse Charges Dropped By Chicago Prosecutors, But Is Still Serving 30-Year Sentence

CHICAGO- Prosecutors in Illinois have decided to drop 10 charges against disgraced singer R. Kelly.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx dropped the charges, explaining that her office found the allegations to be credible, but said the financial cost and “limited resources and court time” were the main factors that influenced her decision, according to NBC News.

Kelly was facing 10 charges of criminal aggravated sexual abuse after being accused of sexually abusing four people between May 1998 to January 2010.

The charges were announced by Foxx in 2019.

Three of the women were under 17 at the time of the alleged abuse.

If the charges headed to trial, the singer would’ve faced three to seven years in prison for each charge.

He’s not off the hook folks.

Kelly was convicted in New York of child pornography, federal racketeering charges, and sex trafficking last year.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Foxx said his victims from Chicago are not happy with her dropping the charges.

The 56-year-old singer will be 86 if he makes through his sentence.
