Texas Bartender Charged After Over-Serving Man Who Allegedly Killed Cop

TEXAS- A bartender was charged after she allegedly over-served a man who killed a police officer after driving drunk, police said.

Cala Richardson, 26, who was arrested on Friday, is charged with one count of sale to certain persons, which is a misdemeanor, in connection with the November 7, 2021, death of police Det. Alex Cervante, according to KDFW.

Richardson was arrested on Friday.

She was working at Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, when she served Dylan Molina, 26, despite her license to serve alcohol being expired, police said.

Molina, reportedly intoxicated, ran a red light, killing Cervantes and sending his wife and two children to the hospital after Molina broadsided their vehicle, police said, according to KDFW.

Molina’s blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit when the crash happened.

He pleaded guilty to his charges and was sentenced on Monday to serve 15 years in prison.

After an investigation was conducted, evidence obtained by authorities showed that Richardson allegedly over-served Molina at the bar before the deadly car crash.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code prohibits the sale of alcohol to a person who is intoxicated.
