Co-Owner Of Popular Atlanta Nightclub Republic Lounge Shot And Killed

ATLANTA- Co-owner of the popular nightclub Republic Lounge was fatally outside of the establishment early Saturday morning, according to police.

Michael Gidewon, who owned the Lounge with his brother, was reportedly found dead just before 7 a.m. Saturday, and was identified by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to local reports.

Police say they officers responded to reports of person shot at the lounge located at 990 Brady Ave. NW around 6:55 a.m.

Once at the scene, officers found 50-year-old Gidewon unresponsive with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, The Atlanta-Journal-Constitution reported.

His death is being investigated as a homicide.

Gidewon and his brother came from Eritrea. They began working as valets, teaching themselves what they needed to know to venture into the nightclub business and applied that to their running of two clubs.

Gidewon and his brother were very well-known in Atlanta, hanging out with musicians like Lil Baby, Usher, T.I., Young Jeezy, Ludacris and many more from hosting hundreds of celebrity performances and nights at the club.

As of Saturday, there have been no murder suspect/suspects in custody.

Gidewon leaves behind a wife and four children.
