CHICAGO- A pregnant woman was shot and killed on Monday during a botched robbery, Chicago Police said.
Genesis Escobar, 21, 7-months pregnant, allegedly entered a vehicle, as her boyfriend stood outside before she announced that a robbery was going to happen, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
It was then that Escobar’s boyfriend exchanged fire with the robbery victims in the vehicle. Escobar was shot multiple times in her back, shoulder and hand, and she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Her unborn baby also reportedly died.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, witnesses said Escobar’s body was dumped from a vehicle and people were seen throwing money on her body.
There have been no arrests, and police say there is an ongoing investigation.
