18-Year-Old Admits To Fatally Shooting Rapper Pop Smoke During Home Invasion In Court

LOS ANGELES- An 18-year-old who was charged in connection to the fatal shooting of Pop Smoke admitted to killing the rapper Friday.

The teen, who was 15 at the time of the murder, admitted to killing the Drill rapper on Feb. 19, 2020. He also admitted to intentionally discharging a firearm during the deadly home-invasion, the L.A. Times reports.

The unidentified defendant will be held in a state juvenile facility until he turns 25, according to the news outlet.

A judge told the 18-yaar-old defendant and the 19-year-old defendant that Pop Smoke “lost his life over no good reason” reports City News Service.

Pop Smoke, 20, whose real name is Bashar Jackson, was a rising Drill rapper from Brooklyn who collaborated with artists like Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj and more.

On Feb. 19, 2020, a group of masked men broke into the Airbnb home that the rapper had rented in the Hollywood Hills. He was on a 4-day trip to L.A. and posted a photo of his address, which would be his last picture.

The defendants busted into the home and confronted him in the shower, where the 15-year-old boy pistol-whipped the rapper and shot him three times in his back.

The group then fled the scene with Pop Smoke’s $2,000 Rolex.
