Rapper G-Herbo Pleads Guilty To Credit Card Fraud Scheme

CHICAGO- Rapper G-Herbo pleaded guilty Friday in a federal court to charges related to a scheme involving stolen credit card information.

G-Herbo, whose real name is Herbet Wright III, allegedly used the money for the scheme to pay for an extravagant lifestyle that included private jets, pricey puppies, luxury vacation rentals and expensive cars.

Prosecutors dismissed several counts of aggravated identity theft as part of the deal. The 26-year-old rapper has also agreed to forfeit nearly $140,000, which is the amount of money he used from the $1.5 million scheme.

The scheme allegedly ran from March 2017 to November 2018.

Prosecutors say the scheme involved G-Herbo and his promoter, Antonio Strong, who shared stolen account information from dark websites through texts, social media messages and emails.

Strong has pleaded not guilty and is currently awaiting trial.

G-Herbo’s sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 7. He faces up to a maximum jail time of 25 years in prison.
