LOS ANGELES- Singer and producer August has died at 31.
The singer’s family confirmed his death on social media and Def Jam, who released a statement on social media Tuesday.
The statement read: “The entire Def Jam family mourns the tragic loss of Ray ‘August 08’ Jacobs,” the statement read. “A brilliant songwriter, an accomplished musician and a singular artist, August will remain in our memory as a beloved colleague and friend. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.
The singer, whose real name is Ray Davon Jacobs, collaborated with many artists and was behind a lot of hit songs which included Justin Bieber, Dj Khaled, Quavo, Lil Wayne and more.
His biggest hit was DJ Khaled’s song “I’m the one,” which landed on the top spot on the Billboard charts. He also worked on Wale’s “Fashion Week”, featuring G-Eazy, among other songs.
The singer’s cause of death is unknown at this time.
