FLORIDA- Rapper YNW Melly appeared in court on Friday to face a judge in hopes of being granted bond as he awaits his double murder re-trial.

The 24-year-old rapper appeared in court with his attorney’s.

One of his alleged victim’s mothers spoke via Zoom, telling the judge that she was worried for her safety if Melly is released on bond, NBC Miami reports.

“I don’ think he should receive a bond, he’s innocent until proven guilty but he has money, and I don’t want anything to happen to me and my family, no bond please,” Christopher Thomas’s mother, Leondra Phillips said, according to the outlet.

The judge didn’t make a decision, saying it would take him a few days.

YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, has been behind bars since 2019 and is accused of shooting and killing his two best friends inside of a vehicle and staging the shooting to look like a drive-by.
