LOS ANGELES – A convicted drug trafficker with ties to the Mexican drug cartel was killed in Los Angeles, police said.
Eduardo Escobedo, 39, also known as “El Mago” which means “the magician” was one of two men killed in Willowbrook.
Police later confirmed the other victim as convicted drug dealer, Guillermo De Los Angeles Jr., 47.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene after Los Angeles County Sheriff deputies responded to a call of shots fired.
A third man, who hasn’t been identified was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to reports.
“El Mago” was raised in L.A. and became the primary local marijuana distributor to “El Chapo’s” eldest son, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar.
Escobedo served almost 5 years in prison for conspiring to distribute more than 22,000 pounds of pot, and he was released in 2018.
