Mattew Perry Died From Accidental Result Of Ketamine; Actor Denounced Drug In 2022 Memoir

LOS ANGELES – Actor Mattew Perry accidentally died as a result of the “acute effects of Ketamine,” according to the Los Angeles officials.

Perry was reportedly undergoing ketamine infusion therapy, a treatment described as experimental, used to treat depression and anxiety, but the L.A. medical examiner said the levels of ketamine in his body were in the range of that used for general anesthesia during surgery.

The report says coronary artery disease and buprenorphine, which is used to treat opioid use disorder, also contributed to his death.

The “Friends” actor had denounced ketamine in his 2022 book Friends, Loves and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir.

‘Ketamine was a very popular street drug in the 1980’s. There is a synthetic form of it now, and it’s used for two reasons: to ease pain and help with depression,” he wrote. “Has my name written all over it— they might as well have called it “Matty.”

Perry said he began taking the drug at a Swiss rehab clinic. After describing the drug as a “giant exhale,” he finally wrote that “ketamine is not for me” because “taking K is like being hit in the head with a giant happy shovel.”

Perry was found dead on Oct. 28 in the “heated end of his pool.”
