NYC – “Black Panther” actress Carrie Bernans was badly injured after a hit-and-run incident in New York City on Jan. 1.
The 29-year-old actress and stuntwoman was injured after a driver crashed into an outdoor area at Chirp restaurant around 1 a.m.
She is currently in stable condition and recovering in the hospital after suffering several broken bones, fractures and chipped teeth.
The incident happened when police began a foot chase after being informed of a physical assault involving the 44-year-old male driver of a black Mercedes and a 34-year-old female passenger.
When police ordered the driver to put his car in park, he resisted, continued to drive, turning on 7th Ave.
Once he reached 34 st, he smashed into a food cart, plowing into two 39-year-old women, a 31-year-old female pedestrian and a 29-year-old female pedestrian.
The driver then mounted onto the sidewalk again, hitting two parked cars.
He was eventually removed from the vehicle and placed into police custody.
Two policemen were also injured and the female passenger who was in the car.
The suspect was taken to Bellevue Hospital and was placed in critical condition. Two victims were also taken to two hospitals.
There is an ongoing investigation.
