Deadly Bronx Subway Shooting Sparked By Gang Rivalry, Police

THE BRONX, NYC – A deadly shooting on a subway platform that left one man dead, and five others injured stemmed from a clash between two rival gangs, after releasing photos of two suspects, the NYPD said Tuesday.

“This was a random shooting that occurred on a number 4 train between two rival groups,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny told reporters during a briefing Monay afternoon.

“Once the groups come together on the train, there’s a verbal dispute that quickly leads to a physical fight,” he said. “As the train is pulling into the station at Mount Eden, one round is fired inside of the train car.”

Police believe there are three suspected shooters, the two currently being sought and the 14-year-old boy who was shot in the ear and leg.

One man was shot in his chest and pronounced dead.

In addition to the man being fatally shot, also wounded were a 14-year-old girl, a 29-year-old woman, and two men, ages 71 and 28, who were listed in stable condition.
