FLORIDA – A feud between rappers Kodak Black and Jackboy left one woman dead, and six others wounded on a Florida highway during a drive-by shooting, according to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.
The motive for the shooting was revealed on Feb. 26. Police said 13 suspects have been charged in connection to the deadly shooting.
The incident took place around 2:20 a.m. on Jan. 16, 2023, after a Jackboy concert. The suspects believed they were shooting at a Mercedes-Benz van that the rapper was in, instead he was in an SUV that was in front of the van, the Tallahassee Democrat reports.
The 13 people who were targeted in the van were friends who were returning from the concert that was held at The Barn in Sanford.
The woman who was killed has been identified as Princess Tolliver, 31, a civilian employee of the Florida State University Police Department. authorities said.
Police said they believe the motive for the killing stemmed from the social media beef between Kodak Black and Jackboy. Kodak has no involvement in the shooting.
11 of the suspects are alleged members of the street gang known as “OTF”, also known as “On Top Forever.”
Among the charges filed are murder, attempted murder, car theft and racketeering, the sheriff’s office said. Two female suspects were also charged with related offenses.
One suspect remains at large and is wanted on charges that include first-degree premediated murder, officials said.
The shooters were riding in four separate vehicles when the staged drive-by shooting happened. Two were reportedly stolen.
