Assault charge against rapper T.I. dropped; but faces other charges

Prosecutors in Henry County Court have dropped a charge of simple assault against Atlanta’s own, rapper T.I..

T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr. won’t be getting off that easy though. Prosecutors are still proceeding with charges disorderly conduct and public drunkenness according to (AGC).

These charges stem from his arrest back in May, where he was attempting to get inside his gated Eagle’s Landing community, but didn’t have his keys and the security guard working there wouldn’t let him inside.

According to police reports, after the security guard whose name is Euwan James let Harris in, he then returned and confronted James using “vulgar, profane, loud and unbecoming language”, according to reports. It’s believed that Harris was let in after his wife “Tiny” Harris came downstairs to get him.

T.I. is accused of being intoxicated when he confronted James and using “vulgar, profane, loud and unbecoming language.” Three counts of disorderly conduct are related to the rapper’s profane language, asking James to leave his guard shack to confront him and for goading him to a fight, prosecutors charged.

Court documents show that Harris’s defense attorney says in a motion to dismiss that what T.I. said to the guard was constitute expressive conduct, not an actual threat of a fight.
