Pharrell Williams, Robin Thicke have to cough up $5 million to the family of Marvin Gaye, over their ‘Blurred Lines’ song.
The lawsuit took five years it reach its final judgement against both singers.
Both were accused by Marvin Gaye’s family of copyright infringement for the thier song that had many similarities to Gaye’s 1977 song “Got to give it up.”
Williams and Thick were ordered in 2015 to pay Gaye’s estate more than $7 million, but that judgment was reduced to $5.3 million and both singers appealed the verdict.
Thicke is ordered to pay more than $1.7 million and Pharrell Williams, along with his publishing company must pay $357,631 in separate awards to Marvin Gaye’s estate.
Marvin Gaye’s family is also entitled to 50% of any royalties from here on out.
