JACKSONVILLE, Ark- A father is facing a murder charge for the death of his his daughter.
According to KSN.com, Jacksonville police responded to a call about a suspicious incident involving a child.
Police say the father, Derek Shockley, 20, told police that he gave his 13 month old daughter a shower, and that the toddlers skin started to slip off.
Authorities say that the little girl was taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital Critical Care Unit. It’s at the Hospital that officials say that the toddlers injuries were caused by intense heat to her body, which caused burns to more than third of her body.
The child died on Thursday from going into septic shock and organ failure due to her injuries.
Shockley was arrested on Dec.18th and he was with Domestic Battering and Endangering the Welfare of a minor.
Shockley was arrested on December 18 and charged with Domestic Battering and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, but was charged on Friday with 2nd degree murder.
