Woman sentenced to prison after she sold her son; was planning on selling her other kids

Texas- A mother has been sentenced to prison after admitting to selling her son and planning to sell her other two children.

Authorities arrested Garza after they carried out a drug search warrant at her home back in July. It was then that agents found her 7-year-old son, along with her two daughters, ages 2 and 3, who were also about to be sold.

Garza sold her son for $2,500.

In an affidavit, Garza admitted that her boyfriend, along with herself owed a drug debt and she sold her son to a woman for $500 in addition to having the debt cleared. She was also going to receive another payment of $700 after the “custody paperwork” was done.

According to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, Esmeralda Garza, 29, was convicted of three counts of selling or purchasing a child. She was sentenced to six years in prison for selling her children, two years for conspiracy to sell or purchase a child and for money laundering.
