Retired baseball player for the Red Sox David Ortiz is recovering after being shot in his back.
Ortiz was shot while he was in Dominican Republic on Sunday night as he sat outside of a club. The incident was caught on surveillance video.
The bullet entered Ortiz through the back, and exited through his abdomen. He was rushed to a hospital where he was in ICU, and surgery was performed to remove his intestines, gallbladder and colon removed.
This is according to Dominican journalist Dionisio Soldevila.
Police have arrested a male suspect. 23-year-old Eddy Feliz Garcia, and there is another male suspect that is wanted. Garcia was beaten by a angry crowd outside of the club.
It was believed that he was shot during an attempted robbery, but it’s being reported from news outlets in Dominican Republic that it may not have been a robbery.
