Man gets life in prison for holding step-daughter captive for 19 years

OKLAHOMA- A man has been sentenced to life in prison for keeping his step-daughter captive, for 19 years.

65-year-old Henri Michelle Piette was convicted in June of kidnapping and traveling with intent to engage in a sexual act with a juvenile.

He was sentenced on Feb. 20. for abusing Rosalynn Michelle McGinnis for two decades according to the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma.

Authorities said that Piette kidnapped McGinnis when she was 12 from her mothers home, held her captive and fathered 9 children with her. Two of the children were born when she was under 18.

Piette moved McGinnis and the children numerous throughout the states and Mexico before she escaped in July of 2016 with the help of a couple she befriended in New Mexico. She went to the United States Consular General Offices in Nogales, Mexico according to prosecutors.

Piette had McGinnis disguise herself by having her dyeing her hair, wear sunglasses and made her use fake names.
