FLORIDA (WCJB) – A mother has been arrested after leaving her 1-year-old daughter inside of her hot car while she went shopping.
30-year-old Marsha Ovwigho was arrested on Saturday after leaving her daughter in her vehicle which reached up to 113 degrees as she was shopping inside of a Walmart.
Police say that the windows were rolled up and her engine was turned off.
Customers saw the helpless little girl inside of the vehicle, called police and told Walmart, who then had one of their employees call Ovwigho over their loudspeaker.
When police arrived on the scene, Ovwigho lied and told police that she had only been gone for a few minutes, but she was actually inside of the store for almost 30 minutes.
Luckily, the little girl didn’t die.
Ovwigho told police that she left her daughter inside of the car because she was sleeping.
Ovwigho was charged with neglect.
