ARIZONA (KNXV) – The Medical examiner’s office has ruled a 14-year-old’s death as a homicide
14-year-old Antonio Arce’s death has been ruled a homicide was shot by officer Joseph Jaen back in 2019.
Arce exited a vehicle, running down an alley, unarmed, when officer Jaen shot him once in his torso, causing him to die. Jaen later told authorities that Arce posed a threat to him, and he believed that Arce had a gun in his hand, as he was running AWAY from him.
Body cam footage even shows the victim running away from the officer, without stopping.
Arce was allegedly found with a replica model airsoft gun.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office let the officer avoid jail by saying that Jaen was justified in shooting and killing Arce, who held no gun towards this officer, and was running AWAY from him.
