MICHIGAN- A mother has been arrested and charged with the murder of her toddler according to several other news outlets.
26-year-old Atiya Nina Muhammed was arrested on May 6th, after police were summoned to her residence for a welfare check according to a report. Muhammed’s family had become worried and contacted police.
Police met up with the Muhammed’s family at her home. According to a statement obtained by People, “Once inside, the police observed the deceased child in a back bedroom in a state of decomposition.”
3-year-old Zion Reid was stabbed to death. It’s not sure how long he had been dead.
Muhammed has been charged with felony murder, first-degree pre-meditated murder, torture and first-degree child abuse.
