TEXAS- A mother killed her 9-year-old daughter, and then herself in what police are calling a murder-suicide.
According to WFFA, police responded to a call on Monday about an active shooter at a home. When they arrived, a man told police that his wife, Alexica Stevenson-Gates, 34, had “chased him out the house”, firing at him with a handgun multiple times.
Gates was inside of the home with her daughter and a boy who can’t be identified.
SWAT was called on the scene, and negotiators talked Gates into releasing the boy that she holding hostage. The boy ran out of the home, but things took a turn for the worse when several hours went by and there wasn’t any activity.
When SWAT finally entered the home, Gates was found dead in a closet from a gunshot wound after killing her daughter.
The husband says that him and Gates were drinking and arguing on Monday morning..
