According to AL.com, a suspect began shooting inside of the Riverchase Galleria on Friday around 3:30 p.m..
The suspect shot 2 children, and 2 adults.
One of the victims was 8-year-old Royta Giles Jr., who was taken to a Hospital but later pronounced dead.
It’s unknown what condition the other victims are in.
Royta was waiting outside of a children’s clothing store shopping with his family when he was shot. His mother told AL.com “The person who did this is going to have to answer for that whether it is to whoever they pray to or if it’s the streets.”
When police arrived, the shooter had fled the scene.
Police say that they believe the male suspect left in a car, due to a trial of blood leading to the mall’s parking lot.
