BROOKLYN- A woman was shot and killed over a dispute about fireworks.
According to The New York Post, Shatavia Walls, 33, had confronted a group of people who were lighting fireworks in the NYCHA Pink Houses, where she was visiting her mother.
Walls was concerned for the safety of children who were close by, according to her family, who spoke with The New York Post. She was allegedly shot at on July 4th, but she wasn’t hit.
On July 7th, police told The New York Post that Walls, along with her friend, confronted a group again and had asked them to stop shooting fireworks, and things turned left.
One of the men who was part of that group, ran and went to get the man that Walls had argued and had a possible scuffle with on the 4th.
That man, according to Walls’ mother, chased Walls down shooting at her, as he was jumping through gates. When Walls was finally hit, and laid out on the floor, the suspect continued to shoot her.
Walls was shot 8 times in her chest. She was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital. There was a 30-year-old male victim who was also shot, but he survived.
Police say her killer hasn’t been arrested or charged yet..
