Co-founder of A$ap Mob and the clothing label VLONE, A$ap Bari has pleaded guilty to sexual assault.
A$ap Bari, whose real name is Jabari Shelton, admitted to one count of sexual assault on Thursday in London, after video footage surfaced in July of 2017 showing him sexually attacking his victim at The Curtain Hotel in Shoreditch.
The video showed Shelton pulling the covers of his victim, as she laid naked in bed.
According to Sky News, the victim was “propositioned”, according to the court, as she waited for a taxi after the Wireless Festival in Finsbury Park. She didn’t show the same interest and instead went to a hotel with another man. The victim was then awoken in the early hours of the morning by Shelton.
When police were called to the hotel, the victim had initially denied that she was assaulted, but reported it several days later, after the video surfaced online.
Shelton was arrested last year, but bailed himself out in June of 2018 and went back to the United States.
Shelton was charged with two counts of sexual assault, which he denied but plead guilty to one of the charges and was ordered to pay a £4,000 fine and £2,500 compensation to his victim.
Shelton resides in east London.
Some who were in the A$ap mob, wanted nothing to do with Shelton after the video surfaced and enraged the Hip Hop community.
