Actor Carl Weathers has died at 76.
Weather, an NFL linebacker turned actor, best known for playing “Apollo” in four “Rocky” movies died on Thursday, according to reports.
His family says he “died peacefully in his sleep”.
There is no cause of death.
His character “Apollo” fought “Rocky”, played by Sylvester Stallone, which was released in 1976, the first of which, won an Academy Award for “Best Picture” of the year.
Weathers went on appear in movies like Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore” and more.
He was a linebacker for the Oakland Raiders from 1970 to 1971, and later played in the Canadian League. After retiring from football, he began acting.
