ATLANTA- Actor Thomas Jefferson Byrd, known for his roles in 9 different movies directed by Spike Lee has been murdered.
Byrd was fatally shot in Atlanta on Saturday night.
The Atlanta Police Department told The Hollywood Reporter that officer’s were dispatched around 1:45 a.m. on Saturday on a report of an injured person.
When officer’s arrived on the scene, they found an unresponsive male lying down. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS from multiple gunshot wounds to his back.
Byrd, known as T-Byrd, was featured in movies that included “He Got Game”, “Bamboozled”, “In The Heat Of The Night”, and appeared on TV shows like “Law & Order”: Criminal Intent and most recently in the Tracy Morgan, Tiffany Haddish sitcom “The Last OG”.
Spike Lee broke the news about Byrd’s death, posting a photo of the actor in his movie “Clockers”.
