Actress Cicely Tyson has died at the age of 96.
Tyson was nominated for an Oscar for her role in “Sounder”, she won a Tony Award at age 88, and won two Emmys for playing a former slave in the 1974 television drama “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman.”
Tyson started out as a model, and became a pioneer for black actresses.
It’s unclear what her cause of death is.
