Alabama Woman Who Vanished After Stopping To Help Toddler On Interstate Is Found Safe

ALABAMA- A woman who vanished after calling 911 to report seeing a toddler along the side of an interstate has been found safe.

25-year-old Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell called 911 on Thursday around 9:34 p.m. to report a toddler she saw walking along on the side of Interstate 459 South near Birmingham, according to the Hoover Police Department.

Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell was dropped off at her home Saturday night, according to the Hoover Police Department.

Russell was reportedly “in shock” when she returned home, reports WBRC.

She was taken to a hospital where she underwent an evaluation.

When officers arrived at the scene, Russell’s car and some of her belongings were found near-by, but police didn’t find her or the toddler she called 911 about.

Police couldn’t find Russell, or the toddler.

Police said Russell left her shift at work around 8:20 p.m., and then most likely stopped at a restaurant to pick up food before she called police.

Witnesses said they saw a light skinned man standing in front of Russell’s car, and police said there are reports of any missing children in the area.
