NEW YORK – Ronald DeFeo Jr., who was convicted of killing his entire family in their Amityville home in 1964, has died.
He killed both his parents, two brothers and two sisters in their home as they slept.
DeFeo blamed the murders on a mob hitman, but later confessed to police that he was the one who carried out the crime.
The story inspired movies like “The Amityville Horror”.
DeFeo died on Friday at the Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg.
He was serving six 25 years to life sentences.
There is no cause of death.
