FedEx Driver Admits To Dumping Hundreds Of Packages In Rivine

ALABAMA- Authorities in Alabama say a former contract driver for FedEx admitted to dumping hundreds of packages in a ravine last month.

The suspect, 22-year-old Deandre Rayshaun Charleston “admitted to everything” Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon said in a conference.

Charleston allegedly confessed to dumping hundreds of packages worth about $40,000 in the ditch, during five different incidents from Nov. 17 to Nov. 23.

Charleston told authorities that he was distraught after the death of his family member, along with other personal problems.

Moon said Charleston said he didn’t steal any of the packages.

About 400 packages were found in the ravine. Some of the packages were able to be traced to their recipients, but about 247 boxes, valued at a total of $25,000 were unidentifiable, according to AL.com.

Charleston was taken into custody and faces a charge of Class D felony warrant for cargo theft.
