PHILAPHINES- Filipino boxer Kenneth Egano has died at 22.
Egano, a rising boxer, suffered a brain hemorrhage after fighting Jason Facularin in an eight-round fight on the Filipino weekly boxing show “Blow By Blow”, created by eight-time world champion Manny Pacquiao on May 6, according to TMZ.
The incident was captured at the gym, where the fight was being held. Engano is given an oxygen mask, after winning the match, and rushed to a hospital where he was placed in an induced coma.
He was later pronounced dead.
Pacquiao has offered to pay for Engano’s funeral costs.
Engano’s opponent released a statement:
“I didn’t expect that this happen when we did our best,” Facularin wrote on social media Wednesday. He added “Why did it happen to us? Sorry that it happened. I hope you’re in a good place.”
Engano began boxing in 2019. He died with a five-fight winning streak.
