HARLEM- Ryshiem Smith has been convicted of murder, for the death of his girlfriends 6-year-old son.
Smith beat 6-year-old Zymere Perkins to death with a shower rod, and a broom handle in Sept of 2016. The torture didn’t end there, Smith then hung Perkins’ beaten body on the back of the bathroom door..
ACS failed this child, and came under fire for letting him slip away into the hands of his killer. Former Commissioner Gladys Carrion stepped down from her job because of the controversy.
ACS had received multiple calls from teachers and neighbors about the abuse that Perkins was going.
Perkins showed up to school with a BROKEN JAW, FRACTURED RIBS AND BROKEN TEETH..
The mother was also aware of her son’s abuse, and allegedly did nothing..
