Brittney Griner’s Mugshot Appears Since Arrest In Russia

RUSSIA- WNBA All-Star Brittney Griner’s mugshot has appeared for the first time since she was arrested in Russia last month for having vape cartridges at an airport.

Griner’s photo was aired on Russian State T.V. over the weekend, reports CNN.

Griner can be seen standing up against a wall, as she’s holding a piece of paper with her name on it. It’s obliviously a mugshot. The photo has no date.

The Russian Customs Service said Saturday that Griner had been taken into custody after it allegedly found cannabis oil cartridges in her luggage.

She’s been in jail for almost three weeks now.

According to the basketball player’s agent, they are in close contact with her legal representation in Russia. the NBA, WNBA, her team and her family.

If Griner is convicted of drug smuggling charges, she could face between five and ten years in Russian prison.

Russia is currently at war with Ukraine, and Griner was heading back to the states as President Biden ordered all Americans to leave the country.
