Brooklyn man arrested for stealing stimulus checks and more

BROOKLYN- A man has been arrested after being accused of stealing mail that included stimulus checks and more.

Feng Chen was arrested on Tuesday and appeared in court via videoconference on Wednesday.

Chen was seen by officers looking inside a medical collection bin at a medical office then walking to a nearby building and examining mail that was on the floor.

Unsatisfied, Chen then walked into another part of the building that was gated, and exited carrying mail. Police then followed Chen, who threw the mail on a sidewalk.

When officer’s caught up to Chen and searched him, they found stimulus checks, checks, credit cards and opened mail. The checks amounted to $12,000.

Chen was charged with theft of mail and faces up to 5 years if convicted.
