CALIFORNIA- Authorities made a “massive” fentanyl bust on Saturday morning, police said.
The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office announced the bust on Twitter, tweeting the office and the Narcotics Task Force had recovered 92.5 pounds of illicit fentanyl, reports Fox News.
42,000 grams of the illicit fentanyl were recovered in Oakland and Hayward.
The department tweeted: “MASSIVE FENTANYL BUST: ACSO detectives and their partners at the Narcotics Task Force recovered 92.5 pounds of illicit fentanyl at locations in Oakland and Hayward. That’s 42,000 grams that were headed for the streets of the Bay Area. This is a glimpse of the fentanyl epidemic.”
The fentanyl was enough to kill about 20 million people, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
The drugs had a street value of $4.2 million.
